Listen, it doesn’t matter what you’re recovering from it comes down to chemicals. Whether it is because of something you’ve been putting in your body or the way your body has malfunctioned because of trauma and chaos, Dopamine, or the lack of it, is largely responsible.
Dopamine acts on areas of the brain to give you feelings of pleasure, satisfaction and motivation. Dopamine also has a role to play in controlling memory, mood, sleep, learning, concentration, movement and other body functions.
You can see how tapping it out by overuse or short circuiting it via stress can be problematic. Learning to regulate our nervous system becomes foundational in early recovery. Maintaining it becomes the life goal.
I found this today and thought it was too good not to share. I’ve had everything on the menu at one time or another.
No one can order for us.
It’s our brain. Our meal planning is ours alone to figure out what works best for us. But it only works if we work it.
